Beautifully carved Naga Buddha

This Buddha is depicted with a snake. this snake is the symbol for the devine, which is also called Naga. The snake is also known as the god Mucilanda.

After Buddha reached his enlightment under the Bodhitree, Mucilinda protected him from the elements by shielding him.

This mudra is the Vitarka mudra. This is the teaching pose, and symbolises the teaching fase in the life of the Buddha. The cirkel formed by his fingers is a symbol for the ever flowing energy.

This Buddha is handmade which makes him unique.
